A Message from the Chair
On behalf of the Council of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Texas, welcome to our organization and our website!
The Section was created in 1992 as a voice for the growing number of dispute resolution professionals in the State of Texas. Since its inception, the Section has worked hard to advance the profession both for its attorney and public members. The largest organization of dispute resolution professionals in the state, the Section seeks to serve its members and the general public in understanding and using ADR processes.
Our members bring great diversity to this endeavor of dispute resolution. The result is the ability to provide individuals and entities in conflict with creative and productive settlement options.
One of our greatest challenges as a Section and as a profession is in educating the public about what we do. We also spend a fair amount of time responding to questions from practitioners and legislators about the proper role of alternative dispute resolution in our society.
These questions are important. As mediators and arbitrators, we know the power of questions and the value of well-considered answers. We won’t take your questions lightly.
We want to find new ways to serve our members, our profession, and above all, the public. We look forward to hearing from you!
Regards,
Joe L. “Joey” Cope
