A Message from the Chair
The approximately fourteen hundred members of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the State Bar of Texas welcome you to the ADR Section’s website. On behalf of the ADR Section’s officers, directors, and members, we invite you to utilize all the resources provided by this website. Our ADR Section members are the leading ADR professionals in the State of Texas and practice conflict resolution in many different venues - domestically and interntionally. Many of our members are full-time and part-time collaborative lawyers, conciliators, mediators, dispute referees, hearing officers, and arbitrators. Many of our members design and implement conflict management and conflict resolution plans in the workplace, in schools, hospitals, medical groups, and other healthcare relationships. Many of our members are ADR academics who lead dispute resolution centers and teach in dispute management and resolution certificate and degree programs offered by Texas colleges and universities. Many of our members are credentialied mediators and volunteer their leadership of mediator credentialing in Texas. Our ADR Section members helped write the Texas ADR statute and continue to be active in state legislation recognizing and shaping the Texas ADR movement. Our ADR Section conducts continuing ADR education and skills building in all areas of dispute resolution and conflict management. We hope you will use the resources provided by this website to become a peacemaker or a better peacemaker in your community.
John Allen Chalk, Sr. Chair (2009-10)
